OVERVIEW
Reporting to Senior Director, Marketing, the Director, Stakeholder and Media Relations – ATL is a bilingual (English and French) a key member of the marketing and communications team, acting as a hands-on leader, supporting and implementing Circular Materials’ stakeholder, communications and marketing, and media relations strategies. This role supports Circular Materials’ goals and objectives by providing strategic leadership and measurable outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
STAKEHOLDER AND COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY
Lead the team in the development and implementation of a comprehensive regional strategy integrating stakeholder relations, corporate communications, resident marketing and media relations.
Working closely with the Managing Director, Atlantic Canada, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community partners, government representatives, sector organizations and local media.
Oversee the planning and management of events such as stakeholder meetings, conferences, sponsorships, and community events, ensuring their successful execution and meaningful outcomes.
Lead conversations, negotiations, and contractual agreements with external stakeholders, sponsors and partners.
Lead change management communication campaigns that support building trust and engagement with multiple stakeholders
Support the national strategy, development and management of communications products to support Atlantic Canada stakeholders.
Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
Support regional crisis communications and reputational risk management.
MEDIA RELATIONS
Act as a spokesperson for Circular Materials’ Atlantic programs for media interviews, sponsorships, and speaking engagements – both in English and French.
Lead and execute presentations, webinars, scripts and other related materials for speaking engagements, media interviews, etc.
Develop proactive media relations strategy ensuring Circular Materials’ initiatives and programs are actively promoted within communities and with relevant stakeholder audiences.
Curate relationships with local media and maintain media and stakeholder relations database.
MARKETING: PROMOTION AND EDUCATION (P&E) FOR RESIDENTS
Lead regional strategy of promotion and education residential advertising campaigns by working with agencies, municipalities, and other key stakeholders.
Ensure content is consistent with overall national marketing strategy, change management and communications.
Deliver on measurable KPIs ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of promotion and education tactics to residents.
Develop internal and external-facing reports showcasing the success and metrics of the marketing strategy.
Continue to build out marketing and resident research and insights (quantitative and qualitative) to further develop the audience and key messaging based on learnings.
Ability to be agile and shift priorities with the team to stay on track and within budget.
Lead management of the regional department budget, ensuring fiscal accountability pursuant to organizational standards and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is required.
An equivalent combination of education, and experiences may be considered.
Experience
10+ years of demonstrated strong experience in communication protocols and tools, including development of strategies and tactics in communications and related disciplines.
5+ years’ experience of people leadership including management of two of more direct reports.
Knowledge of the disciplines of effective communications, public affairs, marketing, stakeholder relations, and reputation management.
Experience in leading public/government affairs and/or stakeholder management.
Demonstrated skillset with marketing communications tools and protocols, including campaign development and tactical execution.
Knowledge/Competencies/Skills
Completely fluent in both English and French (oral and written).
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and the ability to communicate and apply AI technologies effectively within a business context.
Able to envision, articulate and successfully execute marketing and communications strategies to support business objectives and keep long-term objectives top of mind while executing short term priorities.
Strong relationship building, collaboration, team building and presentation skills.
Ensure that professional working style is consistent with high ethical standards and the values of Circular Materials.
Well-developed issues management skills, to anticipate risk and prepare communications plan and messaging.
Effective judgment and decision-making skills.
Able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Able to identify creative ideas about a given topic or situation and develop creative ways to solve problems.
Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal with the ability to tailor as appropriate for the needs of the audience to convey messages effectively and accurately.
Able to translate technical information into factual and understandable messages.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a high-performing team.
WORKING CONDITIONS
All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a Canadian home office environment.
Flexible hours may be required on occasion based on priorities.
Periodic travel will be required to Atlantic provinces, with occasional travel to other provinces.
PAY TRANSPARENCY
Expected Compensation:
An annual base salary in the range of $130,000 to $150,000
The salary range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential base salary range for this role. The actual salary offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors, such as the candidate’s unique qualifications, relevant experience, work location and expected contributions.
