Summary of Major Responsibilities:
The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role at Genesis Recovery, providing consistent, compassionate, and structured support to clients as they engage in their recovery journey. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Behavioral Health Technician upholds the integrity of the therapeutic environment by ensuring safety, accountability, and adherence to program expectations. Through daily client interaction, observation, and collaboration with the clinical team, the Behavioral Technician helps foster stability and growth for individuals pursuing recovery from behavioral health and co-occurring disorders.
Detailed Duty Statement:
Monitor and supervise clients throughout daily activities to maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-focused environment.
Conduct regular facility rounds, room checks, and client head counts in accordance with program policy.
Observe and document client behavior, participation, and progress, reporting notable changes or concerns to a clinical staff.
Support and encourage clients in adhering to program schedules, group attendance, and treatment goals.
Assist in the facilitation of life skills groups, recreational activities, or educational sessions under the supervision of certified staff.
Provide transportation for clients to appointments, meetings, or approved community activities when necessary.
Ensure the cleanliness, order, and safety of program facilities, assisting with routine maintenance or daily chores as needed.
Respond promptly and appropriately to crisis situations or behavioral incidents, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and de-escalation techniques.
Participate actively in staff meetings, shift handoffs, and interdisciplinary collaboration to promote coordinated care.
Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions and documentation.
Support the implementation of program policies and uphold Genesis Recovery’s values of integrity, respect, and compassion.

Qualifications Needed:
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or certification in Alcohol and Drug Studies, Behavioral Health, or a related field is preferred.
With peer support specialist certification is an advantage.
Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or dual-diagnosis settings strongly preferred.
Knowledge of mental health principles, crisis intervention, and co-occurring disorder treatment approaches.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Excellent communication, observation, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and maintain composure in high-stress situations.
Proficient in basic computer and recordkeeping tasks, including use of electronic documentation systems.
Commitment to ethical practice, personal growth, and continued learning in the field of behavioral and mental health.
Cultural sensitivity and awareness of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of clients in recovery.
