Job Description
Permanent, Full-Time | East Tamaki
Are you someone who thrives on accuracy, structure, and being part of a supportive finance team? Do you take pride in getting the details right, even when working with high volumes and tight deadlines?
We’re looking for a Banking Clerk to join our Finance team - a role that’s critical to keeping our accounts receivable accurate, our customers supported, and our wider business running smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous banking or receipting experience who enjoys routine, responsibility, and being relied upon.
Why you’ll enjoy this role
• You’ll play a key part in the daily financial operations of a large, well-established organisation
• Work alongside a collaborative, experienced finance team that values accuracy and accountability
• Stability first: full-time, office-based onboarding, with flexibility considered once settled
About the role
As a Banking Clerk, you will be responsible for the accurate processing and allocation of customer payments, ensuring all receipting, banking, and reconciliations are completed correctly and on time. You’ll also support credit control activities and assist the wider finance team as required.
Your day-to-day will include:
• Processing bank uploads, direct credits, cheques, and credit card payments
• Allocating customer payments accurately against invoices
• Reconciling high-volume transactions and investigating discrepancies
• Responding to payment-related customer queries and processing refunds
• Supporting credit control activities for overdue accounts
• Preparing accurate credit and debit notes
• Ensuring all records are complete, compliant, and audit-ready
Accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency are essential - this is a role where quality matters just as much as speed.
What we’re looking for:
We’re less concerned with ticking every technical box and more interested in how you approach your work. The right person will bring:
• Previous experience in banking, receipting, accounts receivable, or a finance-related role
• Strong numerical ability and exceptional attention to detail
• Confidence working with high-volume, repetitive financial data
• A calm, reliable approach when working to tight daily deadlines
• A team-first mindset - someone who pitches in and communicates well
Requirements for the role:
• Permanent, full-time hours
• Ability to work 100% in the office for the first 6 months (WFH may be considered later, in line with company policy)
• Proven ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
Skills & Experience that are essential:
• Strong reconciliation skills with consistently high accuracy
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel capability
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Cash handling and banking experience
• Comfort working with financial systems (AS/400 experience is an advantage)
