Job Description: Specialist Technical Services Pharmacist (Band 7)
Site: The Royal London Hospital Department: Aseptic Service Unit – Pharmacy Contract Length: 6 months Start Date: As soon as possible Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:30 Pay Rate: £33–£35 per hour
Role Overview
The Specialist Technical Services Pharmacist will play a key role within the Aseptic Service Unit at The Royal London Hospital. This position supports the safe, effective, and compliant preparation of aseptically produced medicines, ensuring high-quality service delivery to patients and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and contribute to the daily operations of the Aseptic Unit, ensuring compliance with GMP, QA standards, and local policies.
• Provide specialist pharmaceutical expertise in the preparation of aseptic products, including chemotherapy, CIVAS, and other sterile preparations.
• Support the release and checking of aseptically prepared products in line with departmental procedures.
• Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, assistants, and wider multidisciplinary teams to maintain efficient workflow.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, including environmental monitoring, documentation review, and deviation reporting.
• Assist in training and supporting junior staff within the aseptic services environment.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Proven experience working within an aseptic pharmacy environment.
• Strong understanding of GMP, QA processes, and aseptic preparation standards.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and maintain high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC.
