About the Job:
The Backup Community-based Doula is responsible for promoting healthy pregnancies, breast feeding and building a trusting relationship that offers strength-based services for families during birth. The backup Doula will provide on-call support and a non-clinical role during labor and delivery as a doula. This position is on-call for a minimum of 1 week per month for attendance; this includes after hours, weekends and holidays as part of a rotating on-call team. This Doula will champion all New Moms core values. This position will be providing services to young moms who are enrolled in both our Chicago and western suburbs programs and will work remotely and attend births in-person or virtually when necessary.
On-Call Rate: $25/day ($25 additional per New Moms approved holiday)
Hourly Rate (when called in): $22.50-$24.00/hour DOQ
General Schedule: On-call schedule is 7 continuous days approximately once every 4 weeks; holidays covered on a rotating basis
Key Job Responsibilities:
Attends labor and deliveries to provide a supportive role for the laboring participant and her family and/or support person(s)
Perform documentation of services provided in participant files, and internal and external electronic case management information systems if needed
Responsible for being available while on-call to provide coaching over the phone and attending births in person or virtually when necessary
Upholds the New Moms’ coaching model
Maintain Doula Certification if applicable
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalency required
Experience:
DONA training required, DONA Certification preferred
Experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably with early childhood through adolescent parenting, child/family development and urban issues
Other requirements:
Valid driver’s license, with safe driving record and valid insurance; Daily access to a reliable car required
Must have the ability to be on-call for a minimum of 1 week a month for attendance of labor and birth of participants and cross-coverage of other Doula’s caseload; this includes after hours, weekends and holidays as part of a rotating on-call team
Ability to be on-call 24/7 for attendance of labor and birth of participants and cross-coverage of all full-time Doula’s caseload
