Backend Software Engineer (Python)

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our Enterprise Identity Verification team and work on our enterprise identity verification solution, delivered as both SaaS and on-premise deployments. You'll drive technical decisions, own domain initiatives end-to-end, and mentor fellow engineers.

You'll shape the technical direction of verification workflows, collaborate on architectural initiatives with our Enterprise Software Architect, and work across teams to solve complex identity verification challenges at scale.

What You'll Do

• Build and optimize eKYC system for identity verification and compliance workflows
• Design and implement verification workflows for reliable, durable execution
• Build high-performance REST APIs with FastAPI
• Integrate APIs for document verification, biometric authentication, and fraud detection
• Implement data validation pipelines to meet regulatory standards (KYC/AML, GDPR)
• Ensure security and compliance in handling sensitive customer data
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, platform, business analysts)
• Ensure high code quality through testing, type hints, and code reviews

Requirements:
Required

• 5+ years of professional Python development experience
• Strong experience with FastAPI or similar API frameworks
• Solid understanding of async Python (asyncio)
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts (retries, idempotency, sagas)
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL (query optimization, schema design)
• Experience building and maintaining microservices architectures
• Proficiency with Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong REST API design skills (OpenAPI/Swagger)
• Solid understanding of SaaS architecture principles and multi-tenancy patterns

Preferred

• Familiarity with Pydantic for data validation
• Strong testing practices (pytest, integration testing, performance)
• Experience with caching patterns and in-memory stores like Redis
• Understanding of event-driven architectures and message queues (Temporal, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Experience creating technical documentation and architecture diagrams
• Understanding of workflow orchestration concepts (durable execution, retries, state management)
• Experience with ORM frameworks (Odoo, Django, SQLAlchemy)

Nice to Have

• Background in identity verification or the biometrics domain
• JavaScript/React for frontend collaboration
• Java/Kotlin for working with biometric services
• AWS cloud services experience
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrumban)
• Familiarity with observability practices (logging, monitoring, tracing)

💶 Salary gross range: €2433– €3050, tied to competency and technical evaluation.

🧑‍💻 Team Interview Stage (~120 min.)

We have a one single interview round that takes approximately 2 - 2,5 hours and is divided into two stages:

• Stage 1: Technical Interview (60 min)
An interactive session with our technical team, focusing on your problem-solving approach and technical knowledge relevant to the role.

• Stage 2: Practical Collaboration (60~90 min)
A hands-on session where you will work directly with our Software Engineers and Hiring Manager on a real-world problem. This is a practical, collaborative exercise designed to see how you approach challenges, communicate your reasoning, and co-create solutions in real time.

🎯 Final Stage (~30 min.)
