Backend Java Developer

Context

We are seeking a skilled backend Java Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing server-side of our solutions based on Thales IBS’s software products in the field of Automated Biometric Identification Systems.

You will work closely with our front-end developers, integrators and validators ensuring the responsiveness and performance of our solutions.

Our ideal candidate has a robust understanding of Java programming, data structures, and algorithms.

Ultimately, the Backend Java Developer will create high-quality, scalable, and efficient backend code that will improve user experience and functionality.

Responsibilities

• Developing scalable backend infrastructure for our solutions.

• Writing and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code.

• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the solutions.

• Identifying and fixing bottlenecks and bugs in backend code.

• Implementing security and data protection measures.

• Developing and maintaining Java-based backend services.

• Working with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.

• Working with integrators and validators to successfully deliver solutions to our customers

• Testing software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.

• Keeping up-to-date with technology trends.

Qualifications

Must have:

• Interest to continuously learn and become an expert in the area of Automated Biometric Identification

• Proven work experience as a Backend Developer or similar role in software development.

• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.

• Proficiency in Java and Spring Framework and Junit

• Proven work experience in writing maintainable and testable code

• Ability to write new code as well as to maintain established code base

• Ability to actively participate in code reviews and share the knowledge

• Ability to create technical documentation

• Fluent with relational databases, SQL and common abstractions (hibernate / JPA)

• Experience with cloud deployment (Docker/Kubernetes)

• Work experience with Maven, Jenkins, Nexus and Git

• Fluent in English, in verbal and written communication

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.

Nice to have:

• Experience with React development

• Experience with Security/Quality tools like Fortify, SonarQube, Nexus IQ

• Experience with the OpenSearch / Kibana stack

• Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ)

• Experience with Keycloak and OpenID

• Proficient in navigating on both Linux and Windows systems

• Experience with RESTful APIs and server-side APIs integration

• Proficient in JSON and XML (JAXB)

• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)

• Experience with transaction management

• Experience with distributed storage like MinIO

• Experience with scripted deployment (Ansible / Chef)
