Backend & Infrastructure Engineer

Are you a Backend Engineer who thrives at the intersection of robust code and scalable infrastructure?

As the backbone of our AI & Innovation team, you will be the critical link between cutting-edge AI research and production-grade software. We aren’t looking for someone to just "write code"—we need a Productizer who can transform raw data models and AI outputs into resilient APIs, automated pipelines, and stable cloud infrastructure.

In this role, you will own your services from initial design to Kubernetes deployment, ensuring that our AI evolution is backed by world-class engineering fundamentals. You’ll focus on bridging the gap between high-level AI concepts and reliable, observable backend systems, taking full responsibility for the lifecycle, scalability, and data integrity of the tools that power the Bragg iGaming platform.

This is a hybrid role in our Ljubljana office, or a remote role within the CET +/-1 time zone.

What you’ll do:

Design, build and maintain high-performance APIs (REST/gRPC) using Python and Golang to serve data across our products and Data Warehouse.

Support AI initiatives by transitioning research outputs into production-ready cloud environments, ensuring models run reliably in real-world scenarios.

Manage, deploy and configure containerized applications running on Kubernetes and maintain CI/CD pipelines (specifically GitLab CI).

Implement rigorous automated testing suites (unit, integration, and E2E) to ensure every commit is production-ready before it hits the pipeline.

Master data tagging and modeling concepts, managing SQL databases and ensuring seamless data flow through our processing pipelines.

Adopt a "production-first" mindset, taking full responsibility for monitoring, troubleshooting, and evolving the services you deliver.

What you bring to the team:

3+ years of experience in Backend Engineering, Backend-heavy Full Stack Engineering or a DevOps-heavy software role.

Strong, production-grade skills in both Python and Golang.

Proficiency in designing automated test suites and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.

Deep experience with Kubernetes.

Proficiency with GitLab CI (or similar) and a passion for automating everything from testing to deployment.

Solid understanding of event-driven and streaming architectures (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub) for asynchronous system design.

Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and experience working with data warehousing tasks.

Hands-on experience with cloud providers, with a strong preference for GCP.

A background in designing complex APIs with a focus on engineering fundamentals like latency, security, and high availability.

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves:

CKAD/CKA/CKS certifications.

Familiarity with tools like MLFlow or experience deploying AI systems at scale (MLOps).

Experience with Terraform or OpenTofu for managing infrastructure as code.

Experience with ontologies or graph databases.

Experience working within data-sensitive or highly regulated industries.
