About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer with strong experience in PHP and Laravel to help design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable server-side applications. This role plays a key part in ensuring system performance, stability, and long-term maintainability across a growing digital health ecosystem.

You will take ownership of backend services and APIs, troubleshoot complex production issues, optimize database performance, and contribute to architectural decisions. Working in a remote-first and fast-paced environment, you’ll collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently.

This role is ideal for a mid-level engineer who is detail-oriented, enjoys solving challenging technical problems, and thrives in collaborative environments while maintaining strong autonomy.

Must Have::
• 3+ years of professional experience with PHP and Laravel
• Solid knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Ability to write automated API tests
• Experience with Git and collaborative workflows (GitHub)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Docker
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud environments
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Rollbar, CloudWatch)
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Nice to Have::
• Experience in healthcare or telehealth environments
• Experience optimizing legacy systems
• Exposure to scalable distributed architectures
• Familiarity with performance monitoring and observability best practices
