Role Overview 

At SiGMA Group, we are building a brand-new eLearning platform and looking for a skilled and reliable Back-End Engineer to join us at this early and exciting stage. This role involves developing scalable, secure, and high-performing applications, APIs, and data services that support business and user needs. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with a practical understanding of system design, integration, and performance optimization. The platform is built using cloud services, with a strong focus on serverless architecture and managed infrastructure. 

Key Responsibilities 

Develop and maintain serverless back-end components using Node.js and TypeScript 

Work with AWS-managed services (e.g., API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, S3) to build scalable and reliable systems 

Design and optimize databases, data models, and queries for performance and reliability 

Integrate internal and external systems through APIs, messaging services, and other data exchange mechanisms 

Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards 

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production and development issues across back-end services 

Monitor application performance, reliability, and security, and implement improvements where needed 

Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design, and continuous improvement of engineering standards 

Key Skills and Competencies 

Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, preferably in a serverless or cloud-native environment 

Experience with AWS cloud services, particularly AWS Lambda and serverless architectures 

Experience designing and building RESTful APIs services 

Strong understanding of relational databases 

Knowledge of system design, scalability, performance tuning, and secure coding practices 

Understanding of authentication, authorization, and API security best practices 

Familiarity with testing practices, including unit, integration, and automated testing 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

Good communication and collaboration skills 

Ability to work effectively in agile, cross-functional teams 

Preferred Experience 

BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience 

3+ years of proven experience as a Back-End Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role 

Experience building and maintaining production-grade back-end systems 

Exposure to distributed systems, high-availability services, and cloud-native architectures is a plus
