Back End Developer - Laravel

Plank is hiring a full-time Laravel Specialist who is interested in making a significant contribution to both the company as a whole and to the work that we do.

What you’ll be doing:

Developing Laravel sites and applications primarily using PHP and JavaScript

Implementing testing & creating a testing strategy

Assisting junior developers and other team members

Leading development strategy on projects

Producing high-quality code

Creating estimates, hitting time targets

Code reviews - elevating & enforcing standards/best practices

Researching and evaluating plugins

Required Skills/Abilities:

Solid understanding of MVC frameworks and building web applications within them

Foundational understanding of system architecture and the ability to understand the relationship between domain entities

Deep understanding of PHP, its frameworks, and its libraries, including Laravel

Ability to describe technical concepts in simple language

Firm grasp of testing frameworks, such as Pest, PHPUnit, etc

Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git

Familiarity with Filament PHP

Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks, including React, Vue

Proficient with web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3

Comfortable with Unix-based environments

Proficient with web servers, such as Nginx or Apache and databases, such as Mysql or PostgreSQL

Familiarity with full text search engines like Elasticsearch / Opensearch, or Typesense

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Requires lifting up to 4 pounds (2 kg), mostly consisting of laptop and hardware transportation
