Job Description
About Us
Catalyst Consulting Group is Government Technology Services Vendor, headquartered in Chicago that has been serving public sector clients for 35 years. We are unique because of the diverse skill sets which our collective team brings to our customers, including SaaS configuration, custom application development, cybersecurity, integration architecture, data migration, and management consulting.
Our technology toolkit includes Salesforce, AWS, Java, .NET, React Native, MuleSoft, and many other platforms, enabling us to deliver systems that revolutionize the way our clients manage internal and constituent-facing operations. We take pride in being a “one-stop-shop” for all our customers’ information technology needs.
We are expanding our footprint across North America and look forward to starting many new projects in the next few months.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior AWS Developer/DevOps to join our team to help build, maintain, and optimize our cloud development ecosystem. You won’t just be writing functions; you will be architecting resilient, event-driven systems and building the "paved road" for our development team through robust Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD automation.
We offer fully remote, flexible work schedules, training reimbursements, home office assistance (including a company laptop), 100% coverage for medical, dental and vision (US employees), and paid parental leave for all full-time team members.
If you have experience with AWS development, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop repeatable, version-controlled infrastructure environments (e.g., OpenTofu, Terraform, Terragrunt).
Architect AWS Cloud Solutions: Design and implement highly scalable services using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Step Functions as well as non-serverless AWS.
Automate Everything: Build and refine CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure seamless, safe, and automated deployments.
Collaborate & Mentor: Drive technical best practices, conduct code reviews, and help elevate the team’s cloud proficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in cloud-native software development, with a deep focus on the AWS ecosystem.
Deep AWS knowledge, with a proven track record of optimizing Lambda performance, designing RESTful APIs via API Gateway, and managing lifecycle policies in S3.
Experience implementing complex business logic using Step Functions.
IaC Proficiency, with a demonstrated ability to define infrastructure as code. You treat your infrastructure like application code—it’s tested, versioned, and modular.
CI/CD expertise,
with comfortability writing custom GitHub Actions workflows that include automated linting, security scanning, and multi-stage deployments.
A growth mindset, where you value simplicity, "fail-fast" development, and documentation. You aren't just looking to write code; you're looking to build systems that run themselves.
How we’ll set you up for success
Salary range of $140,000-$170,000*
Flexible, remote-first work environment (company headquartered in Chicago)
Paid Time Off
Company-provided computer (Mac or PC, depending on preference)
Home office set-up assistance
Virtual and in-person social events
Training & certification reimbursement
Professional opportunities at fast-growing company with a sky-is-the-limit mindset
*Compensation for this role varies based on several factors including qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. US and Canada based applicants only.
