AWS Cloud Solutions Architect (Remote – Brazil, Independent Contractor)

We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Solutions Architect to engage with us as an independent contractor supporting client cloud initiatives across a growing portfolio of projects. This is a remote, project‑based engagement open to qualified professionals.

In this role, you will design and implement scalable, secure, and cost‑effective AWS architectures for client engagements, working collaboratively with delivery teams and stakeholders as a trusted technical advisor. You will translate complex business and technical requirements into practical, well‑architected cloud solutions and may contribute hands‑on where appropriate.

The ideal candidate is a self‑directed, hands‑on architect with deep AWS expertise, strong communication skills, and experience operating successfully in a remote, consulting or contract‑based environment. You should be comfortable managing your own time, deliverables, and technical approach within agreed project scopes and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the design and delivery of end-to-end AWS cloud architectures across client engagements, ensuring alignment with business objectives, security standards, and best practices.

Collaborate remotely with stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to define requirements and translate them into scalable, production-ready solutions.

Evaluate and recommend AWS services, tools, and frameworks to optimize performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Develop high-quality architectural deliverables, including solution designs, technical documentation, and reusable reference architectures.

Define and guide cloud migration strategies (lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and cloud-native transformations) based on client needs.

Design and implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.

Enable DevOps and CI/CD best practices to improve delivery speed, consistency, and operational excellence.

Conduct architecture reviews, security assessments, and performance optimization initiatives for existing AWS environments.

Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer to client and partner teams within the scope of each engagement.

Continuously evaluate emerging AWS services and cloud-native trends to enhance solution quality and innovation.

Required Qualifications

Senior AWS Architecture Experience:

7+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, software engineering, or distributed systems, including 4+ years in a hands on AWS Solutions Architect role delivering production AWS environments.

Mandatory AWS Certification:

Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification is required. No substitutes.

Proven Architecture Delivery:

Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and operating highly available, fault tolerant, secure, and scalable AWS architectures supporting business critical workloads.

Infrastructure as Code Expertise:

Strong, hands on experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK, with a focus on automation, repeatability, and lifecycle management.

Comprehensive AWS Knowledge:

Deep architectural expertise across AWS service domains including compute, storage, networking, IAM, security, observability, containers, and serverless, with the ability to make sound design tradeoffs.

Modern Application Architectures:

Practical experience designing and delivering containerized (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS) and serverless solutions in real-world, production environments.

Security, Networking & Compliance:

Strong understanding of AWS security and networking best practices, including experience designing solutions in regulated or compliance driven environments (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001).

Clear Technical Communication:

Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to produce clear architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and communicate complex topics to non technical stakeholders.

Independent Consulting Capability:

Demonstrated effectiveness working as an independent contractor in a remote, client facing environment, managing scope, priorities, and delivery with minimal oversight.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional AWS certifications (e.g., DevOps Engineer, Security Specialty, Advanced Networking).

Experience designing and operating multi account AWS environments using AWS Organizations, SCPs, and governance patterns.

Hands on experience applying the AWS Well Architected Framework, including conducting Well Architected Reviews and remediation planning.

Experience with AWS data and analytics services (Redshift, Athena, Glue, Kinesis) and/or machine learning platforms (SageMaker).

Previous experience in consulting or advisory roles, supporting multiple clients or stakeholders.

Experience contributing to or leading cloud governance, landing zone, or cloud center of excellence initiatives
