Automotive Cost Value Engineering Manager (Sibiu/Timisoara)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Value Engineering Manager  to join our team in Sibiu or Timișoara, Romania. In this role, you will lead dedicated projects to evaluate supplier component cost structures and develop saving potentials for component prices, tooling costs, and manufacturing equipment investments. You will use systematic methods to improve product and system value by reflecting their functions in early development phases.

• Execute Supplier Cost Audits (SCA) in collaboration with Category Management (CM) and confront suppliers up to top management with calculated costs as a basis for price negotiations
• Conduct cost structure and value stream analyses, as well as market price validations
• Plan and moderate cross-functional workshops focused on cost optimization and value improvement (e.g., Design-to-Cost, Design-to-Value, Re-Design-to-Cost)
• Support make-or-buy decisions and sourcing strategies through detailed cost evaluations and recommendations to management
• Participate in worldwide cost reduction projects on supplier component prices, tooling costs, and manufacturing equipment investments
• Assist Category Purchasing with yearly price negotiations (APN)
• Identify main projects within dedicated areas and potential suppliers
• Improve manufacturing processes at supplier locations for selected products/assemblies
• Follow up on cost reduction potentials until final implementation
• Collaborate with international teams to ensure global alignment on cost-saving initiatives

• Academic degree in Engineering, Mechanics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• Multiple years of professional experience in the automotive industry, preferably in quality, engineering, advanced purchasing, category purchasing, tool management, cost management, and/or manufacturing planning
• Proven expertise in cost calculation methodologies, cost modeling, and market analysis
• Strong skills in Target Costing, Design-to-Cost, Design-to-Value, Benchmarking, and Cost Auditing
• Deep understanding of product cost structures, manufacturing technologies, and value chains
• Excellent project management skills with experience in method development, process optimization, and change management in cost and value management contexts
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management abilities
• Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
• Knowledge of supplier relationship management
• Excellent negotiation, communication, moderation, and presentation skills
• Business fluent German and English language skills (both written and spoken)
• Intercultural competence and ability to work effectively in a global environment
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
• Analytical mindset with a goal-oriented approach to problem-solving
