Audit Manager / Senior Auditor

We are seeking an experienced audit and assurance professional to join a growing team serving nonprofit and public sector organizations in Lexington, North Carolina. This role centers on delivering high-quality financial statement audits, strengthening internal control environments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in audit methodology, risk assessment, and GAAP reporting, along with experience supporting nonprofit entities or governmental organizations. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA or senior-level auditor looking to advance within an accountability-focused assurance practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform financial statement audits for nonprofit and governmental clients
• Examine accounting records, operational processes, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Evaluate internal controls and identify areas of financial or operational risk
• Assist with audit planning, fieldwork coordination, and preparation of audit reports
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and compliance observations to client leadership
• Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and applicable auditing standards
• Monitor regulatory updates impacting nonprofit and public sector financial reporting
• Manage multiple audit engagements while maintaining deadlines and quality standards

Requirements:
• 4–6 years of audit experience, preferably within nonprofit or government sectors
• CPA license strongly preferred
• Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and professional auditing standards
• Experience evaluating internal controls and financial reporting processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage concurrent engagements in a deadline-driven environment
