Job Description:
The AV Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, complete, and competitive cost estimates and quotations for commercial audio-video projects. This role works closely with sales, engineering, and project management to translate system designs and client requirements into detailed bills of materials (BOMs), labor estimates, and pricing proposals while maintaining company standards for accuracy, margin, and quality. As a part of AV Solutions’ design team, your key objectives include providing accurate, direct answers and outcomes, minimizing distractions to our clients, and recognizing unfulfilled needs/wishes for our clients we can address.
Routine tasks include, but not limited to activities such as:
Creation of Proposals, Quotes, Bills of Materials (BOM), Labor estimates, and scope of work documents
Support RFP responses and assist in bid preparation
Collaborate with design engineers and project managers to ensure proposed solutions can be executed successfully
Work with Sales Engineers and Account Managers to clarify scope, assumptions, and client requirements
Maintain pricing accuracy using manufacturer price lists, distributor costs, and internal labor rates
Identify potential scope gaps, risks, and assumptions and clearly document them in quotes
Maintain and update estimating templates, labor standards, and cost databases
Stay current with AV technologies, manufacturers, and industry standards (e.g., AVIXA)
Identifying client needs and ways to improve AV Solutions products
Reports directly to the Director of Technology, provides deliverables to Sales Engineers or directly to Sales Specialist
Skills required for this position are:
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with Commercial AV Parts, Designs, Workflows and Technologies.
Familiarity with construction industry workflows and coordination with other trades
Effective time management skills.
Critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to challenges.
Other Requirements/Information:
Requires working-hour flexibility to work late and long hours as required by individual projects, and flexibility to work around occasional off-hour client needs.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
AV Industry Certifications recommended (CTS, Crestron, QSC/QSYS, Shure, Biamp, etc.)
