GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB: Under general supervision, ensure the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the safety of all users of the pool and the surrounding area through surveillance and enforcement of safety protocols.
OTHER DUTIES: - recognize and respond appropriately in an emergency to secure the safety of patrons. - Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. - Assist in the check-in process - Perform chemistry reading and maintain chemistry log books. - Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility. - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to support Natatorium activities/operations.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: - Currently a full-time UDC student (12 credit hours for Fall and/or Spring Semester) - Maintain a 2.0 cumulative and semester GPA - Ability to interact effectively with university stakeholders and community members.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Complete prerequisite swim skill evaluation - swim 200 continuous yards - tread water 2 minutes (legs only) - complete timed event. swim a given distance, dive and retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, and swim back to the starting point. - demonstrate the knowledge and skill competencies needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies and provide resuscitative and first-aid care - demonstrate ability to perform proper rescue skills and CPR/First-Aid/AED applications.
STANDARDS & EXPECTATIONS: All student workers are expected to arrive on time for all shifts. Vigilance, professionalism and good customer service are similarly expected throughout the entirety of the shift.
