Your mission at Picea:
As a Scientist in the field of strain engineering, you play a central role in the development and optimization of biotechnological production organisms. You take responsibility for the scientific and organizational implementation of complex projects, lead a project team, and work closely with external cooperation partners. The goal of your work is the development of high performance expression organisms, which you accompany along the entire value chain from in silico planning to the characterization of strains and proteins, and whose results you communicate professionally.
Role responsibility:
• Planning, structuring, and coordination of strain development projects.
• Coordination of molecular biology work with bacterial expression systems (e.g. PCR, cloning, transformation, expression screening, isolation of DNA and RNA, NGS and sequencing, etc.).
• Identification of optimization potential and support in the implementation of improvement measures.
• Communication with internal and external partners.
Your profile:
• PhD with at least one year of professional experience in industrial biotechnology or a Master degree with at least three years of professional experience in industry.
• Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a comparable field.
• Professional experience with molecular biology methods for B. subtilis or B. licheniformis is required. Knowledge of additional techniques such as NGS and protein purification is an advantage.
• Careful, structured, and precise way of working.
• Team spirit and ability for independent planning, careful execution, analysis, and documentation.
• Good German and English skills, both written and spoken.
