Associate Scientist, Assay R&D – Full time permanent, On-site (Ottawa, ON)
Job Description
The Associate Scientist in Assay R&D is responsible for the day-to-day activities, which include experimental design & execution, data analysis, and routine laboratory maintenance. The Associate Scientist will perform experiments independently with supervision from senior members of the team.
Responsibilities
Execute experiments in a PCR laboratory setting. May also include working in a Containment Level 2 laboratory with biological samples
General laboratory maintenance and organization, such as cleaning and restocking the labs
Experimental design and execution, data analysis and interpretation
Experiment documentation, protocol and report writing
Analyze and present data to the R&D and project teams
Comply with company quality policies and operating procedures
Additional duties may be assigned as required
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Hands-on experience in basic laboratory skills and procedures (g. pipetting, solution preparations, dilutions)
Hands-on experience in PCR/qPCR experimental design, execution, and data analysis
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work under strict timelines
Preferred Skills
Bioinformatics/PCR primer and probe design experience
Knowledge in statistics
Experience working in IVD product development and/or a regulated environment
