Position: Associate, Private Credit, London
Northleaf Capital Partners continues to expand its global private credit business and is offering the opportunity to gain experience with a leading private markets investment firm as an Associate on the global private credit team in London.
The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director, Head of the European Private Credit team and will work with Northleaf’s senior investment professionals in developing and building the global private credit platform. The successful candidate will support the senior investment team in originating, evaluating, underwriting and executing private credit investments, including screening, reviewing, due diligence analysis and monitoring of private credit investments in Europe across multiple industries.
Role and Responsibilities
Northleaf is seeking a driven individual with a minimum of 2 years of experience with a top-tier Investment Bank, Private Credit, Private Equity, Debt Advisory, Financial Restructuring, Financial or Management Consulting firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to build upon their experience in a demanding but rewarding team-based environment.
Day to day, your role may include:
Conducting due diligence on mid-market private credit investment opportunities by obtaining, reviewing and evaluating third-party due diligence reports (financial, commercial, legal, environmental, etc.)
Performing industry, company and sponsor research including in-depth valuation analysis of private companies
Meeting with sponsors, company management, diligence providers to review past performance, strategy, outlook, industry issues and other relevant topics, as required
Developing comprehensive financial and business analysis to review industry, business strategy, competitive positioning and financial strength
Leading the preparation of the investment memo materials and developing balanced, fact-based investment committee recommendations
Leading the development of financial models to analyze investment opportunities including 3-statement forecasting, valuation, DCF analysis, precedent transactions and comparable company analysis
Assist in legal documentation and all aspects of the investment closing process
Reviewing and monitoring the ongoing financial performance of portfolio investments
Overseeing the preparation and audit review of quarterly and annual portfolio company valuations
Meeting with sponsors, advisors and peers and developing a network of contacts across Europe
Contributing to ongoing business building initiatives (deal origination and deal flow management, due diligence processes, portfolio and risk management tools and systems, and investor reporting etc.)
Contributing directly to Northleaf Capital Partners’ ongoing business development, deal sourcing and fundraising efforts, conducting research and analysis to support presentations to financial sponsors, companies, financial intermediaries, industry partners, prospective investors and investment consultants
Qualifications
Excellent academic credentials
Strong technical foundation in corporate finance and accounting
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including substantial experience in company and industry research, financial modelling and valuation
Results orientated individual, with a proactive and creative approach to problem solving
Demonstrated experience in conducting research and collaborating with others to develop solutions
Strong interpersonal and business relationships skills
Strong judgment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to articulate and present points of view and ideas effectively
Proven ability to successfully multi-task with strong attention to detail
Highly self-motivated, self-directed; demonstrated ability to be proactive and meet deadlines
Demonstrably high standards of professionalism and integrity
