About the Team

Development & Production Lifecycle Engineering vision is to empower customers and engineers through innovative, resilient, and advanced technological solutions, while ensuring seamless customer experience and value creation. The organization owns platform stack and tooling that powers delivery and support of Workday products across public cloud environments such as AWS and GCP.
The platform is built on Cloud Native technologies, with Kubernetes at its foundation, and provides a secure, scalable environment where Workday service teams and platform development teams can build, test, and continuously deploy pre-release and production workloads.

About the Role

Associate Manager, SVT Platforms will lead a team responsible for developing and enhancing Workday’s stack deployment automation to meet service level objectives, reduce operational load, and scale sustainably with business growth.

This role is ideal for a strong technical leader who can balance operational excellence, engineering execution, and people leadership. The team operates in an autonomous scrum model with a follow-the-sun on-call structure. The role requires guiding a team working in a highly cloud native environment, with a focus on automation, observability, resiliency, and operational efficiency.

About You

You are a technical people leader who is passionate about solving problems in distributed systems and large-scale cloud environments. You bring hands-on experience in infrastructure automation, cloud platforms, and operational engineering, and you know how to lead teams toward better reliability and efficiency through automation.

You are comfortable working across Linux systems, configuration management, networking, and Kubernetes-based platforms. You enjoy developing people, improving team processes, and partnering across organizations to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that support customer success.

 

Basic Qualifications

For Associate Manager:

·       5+ years of hands-on experience creating and maintaining environment automation on cloud providers such as AWS and GCP

·       4+ years of experience building and maintaining modular infrastructure and configuration-as-code systems such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm

·       4+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering focused on production resiliency and product quality

·       1+ years of experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, or managing technical teams

·       Experience working in distributed systems and cloud native environments

Other Qualifications

·       Proficiency in one or more object-oriented or systems programming languages such as Java, Golang, Groovy, or Ruby

·       Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Git, Docker, and Linux

·       Experience with continuous integration systems such as TeamCity, Bamboo, or Jenkins

·       Experience with modern build tools such as Gradle or Maven

·       Experience implementing solutions in AWS or GCP; cloud or Argo certifications are a plus

·       Experience with infrastructure and configuration-as-code systems such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm

·       Experience building monitoring solutions, metrics, and dashboards

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree is a plus
