Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Associate IT Director to join and help lead their growing IT operations for for a multi-disciplinary Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) consulting organization. The Associate IT Director will work in close partnership with the IT Director, while providing both strategic and hands-on leadership, ensuring technology systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. The Associate IT Director plays a critical role in supporting daily IT operations while driving key initiatives supporting innovative and collaborative delivery.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations and Infrastructure
• Oversee enterprise IT systems across headquarters and more than 20 remote offices.
• Lead server, storage, virtualization, and network operations.
• Ensure high performance and scalability of a complex Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, including GPU workloads supporting Bentley, Autodesk, and other design applications.
• Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and integrations across cloud and on-premises environments.
Cybersecurity and Compliance
• Implement and maintain robust security controls to protect company and client data.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, including work tied to sensitive government projects.
• Partner with security and compliance stakeholders on IT policies, monitoring, and incident response.
Collaboration and Business Alignment
• Work closely with business leaders, project managers, and technical teams to align IT services with organizational needs.
• Drive adoption and optimization of Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that improve efficiency and support growth.
Leadership and Team Management
• Supervise, mentor, and develop IT staff, fostering high performance and professional growth.
• Provide leadership continuity in the absence of the IT Director.
• Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including service-level agreements and contract negotiations.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10 or more years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
• Microsoft environment strengths. Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Online, virtualization and VDI environments, Microsoft 365, Azure, and enterprise networking and security.
• Experience supporting AEC industry applications such as Bentley, Autodesk, or similar design platforms.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and vendor management skills.
