Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director (Online Education), the Associate Director (Online Programs) manages the implementation and delivery of online programs and courses by managing a variety of educational technology projects. The position supports the Director in achieving the goals for online education at the University, manages the operations of the Office of Online Education (OOE), and directly manages a large team of Educational Technology professionals.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage the operations for the Office of Online Education (OOE), including workflows, projects, and ensuring deliverables for online course and program development are met

• Leads the implementation of the instructional design and course production processes, ensuring effective, cross-functional coordination across teams and faculty partners

• In collaboration with the Director (OOE), establish how courses and programs are built, delivered, and improved

• Manage Faculty-facing processes to ensure a positive, consistent, and resilience experience through training and support

• Ensures adherence to quality standards, timelines, accessibility requirements, and best practices in program and course development

• Contributes to reporting and planning in support of the Director, including through feedback, data, and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement

• Collaborate with leadership in Teaching and Academic Programs to enhance the coordination and delivery of online programs and courses

• Directly manage a team of Educational Technology professionals. Establish and integrate workflow processes across the unit. Set objectives, deadlines, and establish regular meetings with the team. Assess performance, write probationary/trial period review, as required.  Participate with HR on the hiring processes, including selection criteria for new employees.  Provide coaching and training. 

Education and experience:

• Undergraduate degree in education or related field

• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in instructional design or online learning, including leading projects and contribution to program-level initiatives. 

Additional skills and qualifications:

• Proficiency in spoken and written French

• Experience in online program (re)design including reviewing, researching, designing, delivering, and assessing the quality of student learning experience

• Ability to apply expertise to a wide range of post-secondary programs, including the humanities, social sciences, management, and STEM

• Master's degree in educational technology or instructional design an asset.
