Associate Director, Cloud FinOps Manager

About the role: What's in the Box

The service provider will architect and own the financial operating model for the global cloud infrastructure. This is a business-oriented leadership mission where the external expert acts as the primary stakeholder responsible for optimizing significant technology investments. The objective is to transform cloud spend into a predictable, efficient engine for innovation, providing the financial clarity required for strategic business decisions and supporting the negotiation of high-value infrastructure contracts.

What you’ll do: The Recipe

Cultural Transformation: Act as a subject matter expert for Cloud FinOps, driving a culture of cost ownership across the engineering organization through technical guidance, insight dashboards, and knowledge sharing.

Governance & Visibility: Design and implement a universal resource tagging strategy and robust showback/chargeback models to ensure clear service delivery accountability.

Optimization & Efficiency: Lead a continuous optimization program, collaborating with engineering to refactor applications for cost-efficiency and adopting advanced pricing models.

Commercial Strategy: Develop and execute strategies for cloud vendor negotiations, aligning commitments with business objectives to mitigate financial risk.

•
Forecasting & Budgeting: Build and operate data-driven forecasting models, partnering with Tech and Finance stakeholders to eliminate spending volatility and provide accurate budgetary projections.

What you’ll bring: The Ingredients

•
7+ years of dedicated experience in Cloud FinOps or Cloud Financial Management, with a proven track record of managing significant AWS spend.

•
Mastery of Cloud Economics, including deep expertise in AWS cost structures (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Spot, and CUR).

•
Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to build data-driven business cases for executive-level stakeholders.

•
Technical credibility to discuss architectural trade-offs with engineers and optimize application architecture for cost.

•
Proven experience in leading or participating in large-scale commercial negotiations with major cloud vendors.

•
A "builder's mentality" with the ability to design FinOps processes and strategies from the ground up.

•
Proficiency with scripting (e.g., Python/Bash) and experience with third-party tools (e.g., Vantage, CloudHealth) is highly advantageous.
