Position Objective
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assisting the superintendent with the execution of the work in the field to maintain schedule, quality, and budget. This position will assist in supervising the field logistics, managing the daily work of the Centric field team, and ensuring the successful completion of all subcontractor work. This position partners very closely with the Project Manager to ensure issues are quickly resolved, work is monitored for quality, field members operate within required safety guidelines and project deadlines are met.
Essential Job Functions
Project and Field Management
Have a thorough understanding of all construction documents
Review, coordinate, and understand submittals and shop drawings
Work with the Project Manager to develop, update, and maintain the project schedule and three-week look-ahead schedules
Schedule, coordinate, and sequence all material deliveries, subcontractors, and vendors
Coordinate, review, and inspect installed work to ensure compliance with construction documents
Resolve/diffuse issues quickly and effectively
Schedule, coordinate, and manage pre-installation meetings, permits, testing, and inspections
Supervise completion of punch lists and final project close-out
Communication, Documentation & Project Controls
Produce and maintain field reports and documentation (schedules, cost reports, delay reports, work logs, as-builts)
Communicate effectively and professionally with all project stakeholders
Participate in client meetings to report project progress and resolve outstanding production issues
Understand the project budget and work with the Project Manager to manage cost
Assist in facilitating weekly job site meetings
Must be able to learn, understand, and utilize required technology/software
Ensure all field personnel are working in compliance with OSHA and Centric safety requirements
Qualifications and Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Minimum (2) years of field supervision experience in commercial construction
Bachelor’s degree in construction management/construction science, or extensive work experience in commercial construction
Intermediate knowledge of project management, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office products
Must be proficient in reading and understanding plans, specifications, drawings, and project schedules
OSHA-10 is required within 30 days of employment
OSHA-30 and First-Aid/CPR certifications are preferred
A valid driver’s license is required

Strong ability to prioritize and develop work schedules that incorporate multiple trade groups
Maintains composure, professionalism, and objectivity in difficult situations and effectively resolves issues without escalating tension
Demonstrates confidence in spotting construction productivity issues by taking action to resolve them before the project is negatively impacted
Excellent communication skills, both in writing and face-to-face
Strong ability to build relationships, influence others into action, and work exceptionally well under pressure
Demonstrates a strong knowledge of materials and resource allocation, construction tools, and execution according to plan specifications
Embraces technology and is able to use it in ways that support project success and client satisfaction
