Haycon is a Passive House design/build company, and this position provides an excellent opportunity to work on Passive projects and learn how we do it. The Haycon Assistant Site Super is an integral role, working closely with the Site Superintendent being responsible for the effective day-to-day oversight of our construction site activities and operations including safety & security, implementation of policies & procedures, and the review of relevant documents and drawings. Our culture and work environment is such that this role is suited to someone who will take initiative to identify what needs to be done and do it, rather than wait to have tasks assigned.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Support the Site Superintendent with all jobsite tasks
Sign site visitors, employees, and contractors in and out of job site
Create and maintain relationships with project team including Haycon personnel, Subcontractors, material suppliers, and Haycon project team
Give safety presentations and hold safety walk-throughs, and hold Subcontractors accountable for adhering to safety standards and guidelines
Stay on top of construction and MEP status to ensure completion deadlines are being met and adhered to, making sure contractors are aware of deadlines and deliverables
Schedule, accept, and receive deliveries
Keep a detailed daily log of all activity on site and stay in constant communication with the project team
Maintain an accurate short-term schedule of all current and upcoming activity on site (3-weeks), and present at team meetings
Manage the workflow of different trades to maximize efficiency and maintain critical path. (Make sure subs don't get in each-others way!)
Acquire necessary materials and supplies to maintain project timeliness and progress
The role supports the Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager as needed. This may include hiring, procuring Contractor bids, completing pre-construction tasks such as takeoffs, and coordinating permits.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven track record of being extremely reliable - on time, every day
Have current CSL (Constructions Supervisors License) or be in progress
OSHA 10 certified; OSHA 30 preferred
Ideally possess construction background, preferably with multi-family buildings
Be able for the physical demands of the job – lifting up to 80lbs, climbing ladders, moving comfortably over rough, uneven terrain, ledges, etc.
Ability to read drawings is preferable
Have the skills to learn new online construction tools like Procore, database, CRM's, etc.
Be an effective communicator
Be a good team player and exhibit good moral character
Have hands-on ability to clean, build, and maintain a safe worksite (light carpentry or hands-on skills with power tools etc. desirable)
Willingness to get your hands dirty, and work in a team environment
Ability to drive, clean current Driver’s License
