Job Description
Assistant Project Manager – Construction / Heavy Civil Support
Onsite – Southern Idaho (Boise area / Idaho Falls region)
$60,000–$65,000 base + performance bonus (average $12K annually)
About the Role
We’re partnered with a well-established, locally rooted construction organization that supports heavy civil and roadway projects throughout Southern Idaho. This team operates at the intersection of construction services and specialty subcontracting, working closely with general contractors and public entities to help projects run safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Due to continued growth, they’re adding an Assistant Project Manager to support multiple active projects and develop into a full Project Manager over time. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Coordinator or early-career construction professional who wants hands-on exposure, strong mentorship, and a long-term career path.
What You’ll Be Doing
Manage a portfolio of assigned projects (starting with 10 smaller jobs), overseeing them from kickoff through closeout
Attend project meetings and serve as a primary point of coordination between internal teams, owners, and external partners
Communicate job timelines and updates to the scheduling department (you won’t schedule field labor directly, but you’ll coordinate closely)
Handle monthly billing and weekly quantity reporting to owners, ensuring accurate reconciliation and zero margin leakage
Maintain clean, consistent billing practices, issuing invoices monthly based on work completed
Learn and support estimating efforts, with the long-term goal of estimating, winning work, and owning projects end-to-end
Track project details using basic tools
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Strong attention to detail in billing, quantities, and reconciliations
Proactive communication, issues are surfaced early, not after work is complete
Organized project tracking across multiple jobs at once
Building trust with internal teams, owners, and partners through clear, confident communication
Demonstrating ownership and accountability for assigned projects
What We’re Looking For
Experience in the commercial or construction industry (GC or subcontractor background both welcome)
Understanding of jobsite workflows, submittals, and owner/subcontractor relationships
A Project Coordinator or Junior PM ready to step up and grow
Comfortable holding your ground, asking questions, and communicating clearly
Willingness to learn estimating, billing, and reconciliation processes
Bachelor’s degree not required
Strong culture fit and interest in long-term growth (this team values stability and commitment)
Nice to Have:
Exposure to heavy civil, roadway, or infrastructure projects
Familiarity with basic accounting or job cost reconciliation (training provided)
