ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER - COMMERCIAL HVAC & MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects within a hands-on subcontractor environment.

This role is structured for a motivated early-career professional who is ready to take on increasing ownership of project execution over time. You will work closely with field crews, vendors, and senior leadership to support HVAC systems, piping installations, and day-to-day coordination across active projects from preconstruction through closeout. For the right candidate, this position offers a clear and well-supported path toward full Project Manager responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Support the execution of commercial HVAC and mechanical projects across all phases from preconstruction through closeout
• Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, and internal teams to keep active job sites aligned and on schedule
• Track project schedules, costs, and progress, escalating issues to senior leadership as appropriate
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
• Assist with the preparation and management of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
• Coordinate with vendors and support the procurement of materials and equipment
• Communicate professionally with clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution
• Participate in regular jobsite visits to support field operations and monitor construction progress firsthand

Requirements:
• 2–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical construction in an APM, Project Engineer, or comparable role
• Commercial HVAC experience required — residential-only backgrounds will not be considered
• Background with a mechanical contractor or HVAC subcontractor required
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and construction specifications
• Genuine interest in developing into a Project Manager role over time
• Basic working knowledge of scheduling and cost tracking tools
• Comfortable operating in a hands-on, field-oriented contractor environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills
