About Your Role
CMTS is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Project Manager to support aviation and infrastructure capital improvement projects throughout the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) Region. This role will assist in managing projects through all phases including planning, design coordination, procurement, construction administration, stakeholder coordination, and project closeout.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Aviation Management, or related field preferred

An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant industry experience
What You’ll Need to Get the Job Done
3–7 years of experience supporting construction or capital improvement projects, preferably in aviation, transportation, public works, or large commercial environments
Knowledge of construction project management principles, scheduling, budgeting, and document control processes
Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project delivery methods
Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and construction closeout documentation
Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, consultants, client representatives, and field personnel
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, meeting minutes, and project correspondence
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to identify project risks, conflicts, and schedule impacts and assist with resolution efforts
Working knowledge of safety regulations, quality control standards, and construction compliance requirements

CCM (Certified Construction Manager) preferred

What You’ll Do
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of aviation and infrastructure capital improvement projects from initiation through closeout
Assist Project Managers with project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and daily project administration activities
Coordinate with airport operations personnel, contractors, consultants, utility providers, government agencies, and stakeholders to maintain operational continuity throughout construction activities
Monitor contractor performance, project progress, and field activities to help ensure compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and quality expectations
Participate in project meetings including owner meetings, contractor coordination meetings, progress meetings, stakeholder discussions, and construction updates
Prepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, action item logs, and follow-up documentation
Assist in reviewing and processing RFIs, submittals, change orders, contractor pay applications, and requests for proposal
Maintain accurate and organized project documentation including schedules, logs, reports, correspondence, permits, inspection records, and construction photographs
Conduct field visits to verify construction progress, identify potential conflicts, monitor safety practices, and document field conditions
Assist in tracking project scope, schedule milestones, budget performance, contingency usage, and risk management items
Coordinate with design consultants and contractors to support timely resolution of design conflicts and construction issues
Support procurement and bidding activities including preparation of bid packages, contractor communications, and evaluation support
Assist in monitoring compliance with client standards, local regulations, building codes, FAA requirements where applicable, and operational constraints
Help facilitate quality assurance and quality control efforts throughout all project phases
