Summary: The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at East Central University (ECU) seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track, if eligible, Assistant Professor in Computer Science to include exemplary teaching; curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation; directing undergraduate research and possible web course development.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses, including general education as well as entry and upper-level CS core and elective courses. Standard faculty load is 12 credit hours each semester.
Engage in scholarly activity and maintain an active research agenda.
Provide meaningful service to the university, including department, college, and university committees.
Advise students and contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation processes.
Perform other duties as assigned by Department Chair and Dean of College of Health and Science or designee.

The ECU Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is a cross-disciplinary department containing programs in both mathematics and computer science. Minimum Qualifications
Required: Doctoral degree in Computer Science or closely related degree (ABD will be considered). Tenure track requires a terminal degree in hand. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, with a preference for experience at the undergraduate level. Evidence of potential for sustained scholarly activity. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching, academic advising, and student engagement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a collegial academic environment.
Preferred: Candidates with a proven record of scholarly activities (including but not limited to publications, scientific presentations and grant writing); demonstrated experience delivering instruction in online and hybrid learning environments; experience designing and developing online courses aligned with Quality Matters or comparable instructional design standards.
