Required Skills
Job Description
Neowork is looking an Assistant GM for a client who is a social wellness venue in Medellín built around sauna, cold plunge, and intentional rest. We're creating a third space — not work, not home — where people come to slow down, feel better, and connect. We take the quality of that experience seriously, down to every inch of it. We're looking for an Assistant General Manager who is organized, genuinely warm, and cares deeply about hospitality to help us build and run this place from the ground up.
The role
You'll work directly alongside the General Manager across every stage of the business — from the final stretch of pre-launch build-out through opening day and ongoing operations. This role is hands-on and varied. One week you might be coordinating with contractors and sourcing supplies; the next you're leading the floor, managing the team, and making sure every guest leaves feeling taken care of.
Responsibilities
Pre-launch
• Coordinate material sourcing, supplier relationships, and delivery logistics alongside the GM
• Support construction oversight — tracking progress, flagging issues, and keeping things moving
• Assist with hiring: screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and onboarding early team members
• Help build out SOPs and staff training materials before opening
Launch & ongoing operations
• Open and close the facility; manage daily checklists and readiness before guests arrive
• Perform and oversee basic sauna and cold plunge maintenance — temperature calibration, water chemistry, equipment checks
• Maintain the overall facility including plant care and common areas — Madre gives a damn about every inch
• Take payments, manage the POS system, and handle basic reporting
• Build and manage the employee schedule; coordinate shift coverage
• Know members the way a good bartender knows their regulars — by name, by preference, by mood
• Handle guest relations with care — resolve complaints quickly, de-escalate difficult situations, and represent Madre's values in every interaction
• Act as the GM's operational right hand — triaging issues and making sound decisions when they're not on-site
Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in hospitality, hotel, spa, or food & beverage operations
• B2 English proficiency (written and spoken)
• Unreasonably hospitable — you do things that surprise people, because that's what earns loyalty that lasts
• Detail-obsessed — a dropped towel or an unswept corner bothers you the same way it bothers us
• Bias toward action — when something feels slow or stuck, you treat it as a problem worth solving
• Direct and honest — you say what you think with positive intent, and you welcome feedback the same way
• Genuine interest in wellness — you care about the category and are excited to go deep on it
• Comfortable in a startup environment where things move fast and roles are fluid
• Based in or willing to relocate to Medellín
Nice to have
• Experience in a wellness, spa, gym, or thermal facility
• Familiarity with POS or scheduling tools (Square, Mindbody, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of sauna or hydrotherapy equipment
• Experience hiring or training staff
Our values
• Little things are big things — The sauna is always hot. The plunges are always clean. The standard never slips.
• Unreasonable hospitality — We are hosts, not staff. We know our members by name, preference, and mood — and we do things they don't expect.
• Say what you think with positive intent — We covet feedback. From members, from each other. Staying quiet to keep the peace is a disservice to the team.
• Operate with urgency — Speed is a differentiator. We don't let things sit. We act, we learn, and we improve.
Benefits:
• Direct employment under Colombian labor contract (includes benefits such as prima and cesantías)
• Opportunity to be part of a new and growing wellness concept
• Positive and team-oriented work environment
• Exposure to the wellness and fitness industry
• Stable, in-person role with consistent schedule
