General Responsibilities for Assistant Manager (Carl's Jr., Sbarro, Del Taco):
1. Leadership & Team Management:
• Supervise, train, and develop team members to ensure high standards of performance.
• Lead by example to motivate staff, maintain a positive work environment, and ensure that employees understand and adhere to company policies.
• Ensure proper staff scheduling for shifts, managing staffing levels during peak hours.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and coach team members for improvement.
• Resolve conflicts or issues that arise among team members or with customers.
2. Customer Service & Satisfaction:
• Ensure high standards of customer service are consistently met by all employees.
• Handle customer complaints or concerns, ensuring that issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
• Interact with customers to ensure a positive dining experience and encourage return visits.
• Monitor service speed and food quality to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize wait times, especially during peak periods.
• Ensure the restaurant meets cleanliness standards, providing a welcoming environment for customers.
3. Food Safety & Quality Control:
• Oversee food preparation and ensure all items are cooked according to brand standards, including portion sizes, cooking temperatures, and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation practices, including monitoring staff hygiene and cleanliness of workstations.
• Regularly inspect food items for quality, freshness, and consistency, making adjustments when necessary.
• Supervise inventory management, ensuring proper rotation of stock and that ingredients are fresh.
4. Operational Oversight:
• Assist with day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient restaurant workflows.
• Manage kitchen and front-of-house operations, including food prep, order taking, cooking, and cleaning.
• Maintain operational standards, such as the cleanliness of dining areas, kitchen spaces, and restrooms.
• Ensure equipment is maintained and operational, reporting any needed repairs promptly.
• Oversee opening and closing duties, ensuring that all procedures are followed for security and cleanliness.
5. Financial & Cash Management:
• Supervise cash handling, ensuring accurate transactions, register balancing, and cash deposits.
• Help manage the financial aspects of the restaurant, including daily sales, labor costs, and food inventory.
• Monitor financial performance, including tracking costs and ensuring the restaurant stays within budget.
• Assist with preparing financial reports and contributing to cost control strategies.
6. Administrative Duties:
• Assist with maintaining employee records, including payroll, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Complete daily operational reports, such as sales summaries, inventory, and labor tracking.
• Participate in recruitment efforts, including hiring and training new staff.
• Maintain communication with upper management and support the implementation of corporate policies.
Brand-Specific Adjustments:
Carl's Jr.:
• Food Focus: Oversee the preparation of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and sides.
• Operational Emphasis: Supervise the grilling and frying processes to ensure food is cooked to company standards, especially during busy rush periods.
• Drive-Thru Operations: Ensure efficient and accurate drive-thru service, maintaining speed and order accuracy.
• Brand Standards: Help implement any promotional campaigns and new product launches.
Sbarro:
• Food Focus: Manage food preparation of pizza, pasta, and Italian-style dishes such as salads and strombolis.
• Oven Management: Supervise the pizza oven to ensure pizzas are cooked to perfection and maintain consistency in the quality of the product.
• Self-Service Counter: Oversee the self-service counter area and monitor customer interactions to maintain efficiency and cleanliness.
• Pasta & Pizza Specialty: Manage inventory for pizza dough, cheese, sauces, and other fresh ingredients to ensure product quality.
Del Taco:
• Food Focus: Oversee the preparation of Mexican food like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and other signature items.
• Speed & Accuracy: Focus on the drive-thru and counter service to ensure fast and accurate service, especially during busy hours.
• Fresh Ingredients: Ensure that all ingredients like salsas, meats, and sauces are fresh and prepared according to Del Taco’s standards.
• Cross-Training: Train staff to work efficiently in both kitchen and front-line customer service roles.
Skills and Qualifications for Assistant Manager:
• Experience: Prior experience in the fast food or quick-service restaurant industry, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role (e.g., Shift Leader or Supervisor).
• Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and manage a team, delegating tasks effectively and ensuring high standards of service.
• Customer Service: Exceptional interpersonal skills to resolve customer complaints and ensure satisfaction.
• Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of restaurant financials, including labor costs, food costs, and inventory management.
