The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles plays a vital role in supporting the Director of Nursing and helping guide the daily operations of the nursing department while maintaining a strong focus on quality patient care.
In this position, the ADON assists with overseeing nursing staff through scheduling, supervision, training, and performance management. They help develop and uphold policies and procedures, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and support accreditation standards. The ADON is actively involved in monitoring patient care, addressing clinical issues, and providing guidance to staff to ensure care is delivered safely, effectively, and with compassion.
The role also includes working closely with interdisciplinary team members, assisting with staffing coordination, and stepping in to lead the department when the Director of Nursing is unavailable. Success in this role requires strong leadership abilities, solid clinical expertise, effective communication, and excellent organizational skills.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Registered Nurse for at least 5 years with a minimum of 3 years of past working experience in clinical psychiatric/mental health nursing care, with MSN oversight.
License: RN License through the Louisiana state board of nursing
Experience: 3 years of management in mental health nursing
