POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a key role in supporting the Director of Nursing and helping oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, with a strong emphasis on delivering quality patient care.
In this role, the ADON assists in managing nursing staff through scheduling, supervision, training, and performance oversight. They help implement and maintain policies and procedures, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and support accreditation requirements. The ADON is actively involved in monitoring patient care, addressing clinical concerns, and guiding staff to ensure care is safe, effective, and compassionate.
This position also involves close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, assisting with staffing coordination, and stepping in to lead the department in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Success in this role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, clear communication, and excellent organizational skills.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Registered Nurse for at least 5 years with a minimum of 3 years of past working experience in clinical psychiatric/mental health nursing care, with MSN oversight.
License: RN License through the Louisiana state board of nursing
Experience: 3 years of management in mental health nursing
