Role Summary
The Assistant Design Manager is responsible for leading the India-based formwork design team and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality, compliant formwork designs in support of factory production and project requirements. The role carries accountability for team performance, workload management, and meeting agreed production targets.
Key Accountabilities
• Lead, manage, and develop the formwork design team based in India.
• Plan, coordinate, and prioritise design workloads to meet monthly production and delivery targets.
• Ensure formwork designs are fit for purpose, compliant with project requirements, and aligned with factory manufacturing needs.
• Assist the Technical Design Manager as the primary design interface with Factory, Business Development, and Project teams.
• Manage design deliverables, changes, and priorities across multiple projects.
• Monitor performance, identify risks, and escalate issues that may impact quality, safety, cost, or programme.
• Identify skills gaps within the team and request appropriate training or development support.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and ways of working.
Authority & Responsibility
• Accountable for the performance, output, and capability of the assigned design team.
• Responsible for achieving agreed design production targets and delivery commitments.
• Authority to recommend resource adjustments, training needs, and process improvements within the design function.
General
• Maintain professional standards and confidentiality at all times.
• Work flexibly and support business needs during peak periods.
• Undertake any other duties reasonably required to support the effective operation of the Design function.
