Position Overview
We are currently looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team at Bemac Collision Group.
The role is responsible for supporting our finance team and help scale our operations.
Work Environment & Schedule
• Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
• Lead accounting process across all locations (bank and credit card reconciliations, bank deposits, intercompany transfers, accounts payable)
• Ensure accuracy of accruals including WIP, parts, labour, and sublet
Work-in-Progress (WIP) & Job Costing
• Monitor and manage WIP balances and reporting
• Ensure proper revenue recognition tied to job completion
• Analyze estimate vs final invoice variances
Payroll Oversight & Reconciliation
• Review and reconcile payroll on a regular basis (weekly)
• Support accurate payroll accruals at month-end
• Assist with compliance for payroll taxes, deductions, and reporting
Insurance Receivables & Collections
• Oversee insurance AR and collections process
• Monitor aging and resolve payment delays
• Ensure timely and accurate insurer billing submissions
• Work with operations to resolve discrepancies
Internal Controls & Compliance
• Maintain strong internal controls across all entities
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
• Monitor parts margins and vendor pricing
• Assist with year-end audits and external reporting
Team Leadership
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff
• Support training for shop administrators on financial processes
• Act as a key liaison between finance and operations
• Collaborate with team members to support efficient operations

Requirements:
• CPA designation (or in progress) preferred
• 5–10+ years of accounting experience (automotive/collision industry an asset)
• Experience with multi-entity or multi-location accounting
• Strong understanding of AR, WIP, and job costing
• Experience with systems such as Mitchell, Audatex, or Bodyshop Connect (asset)
• Advanced Excel and Quickbooks Desktop Skills
• Strong leadership and communication abilities
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Strong communication skills
