We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Controller to support and strengthen our accounting operations. This role is ideal for a senior accounting professional ready to take the next step toward a Controller position, combining strong technical expertise with leadership and business partnering.
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting team development, and driving process improvements in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position requires strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, hands-on involvement in accounting processes, and the ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the oversight of general accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes.
• Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and fostering a positive team environment.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data and reporting.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights to support decision-making.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business initiatives.
• Support external audit processes, including preparation of documentation and coordination with auditors.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting operations.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data, generate reports, and support business needs.
Requirements:
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred).
• 6–9 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience supporting or leading month-end close processes and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas, data analysis).
• Excellent communication skills in English (advanced proficiency required).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and sense of ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Senior Living, Real Estate, Hospitality, or Healthcare industries.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Yardi or similar platforms.
• Experience working in a shared services environment or supporting U.S.-based operations.
• Exposure to audit processes and internal controls frameworks.
