Assistant Controller - Full On Site (Guadalajara MX)

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and hands-on Assistant Controller to join MezTal, supporting a U.S.-based client in the Senior Housing / Real Estate industry.

This role will support the Controller in managing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and experienced in working with Yardi.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Controller in overseeing general ledger activities and financial reporting.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Maintain and optimize accounting processes and workflows.
• Work directly with Yardi for accounting operations, reporting, and data management.
• Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Support audit processes and ensure proper documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights.

Requirements:
Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

• 100% onsite availability in Guadalajara (no hybrid or remote option).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (only Accounting degrees will be considered).
• Experience in Senior Housing or Real Estate industry.
• Hands-on experience with Yardi accounting software.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience supporting or working closely with senior accounting leadership.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Advanced English communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
