Detailed responsibilities and ownership
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
Lead full month-end close for Canadian entities: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
Prepare monthly financial statements and margin variance reports for Controller review.
Recommend solutions for margin improvement and cost control.
Team Management
Oversee, train, and review direct reports daily.
Act as escalation point before Controller involvement.
Hold regular meetings to support team growth & development.
Accounts Payable & Cash Oversight
Review and own weekly AP payment runs.
Maintain strong controls and catch any errors before payments.
Payroll & Benefits Oversight
Ensure accurate, on-time payroll and government remittances.
Maintain Dayforce system as needed.
Own and review payroll cost allocation in ERP.
Accounts Receivable Oversight
Resolve AR issues: payment discrepancies, delinquencies, customer inquiries, and revenue allocation.
Monitor upcoming customer rate changes and ensure they are communicated to team.
Reconciliations & Internal Controls
Reconcile income statement and balance sheet accounts weekly.
Support year end audits and monthly bank covenant reporting
Ad-Hoc Analysis & Support
Solve business problems proactively.
Improve processes and controls as business scales.

Experience & Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or equivalent professional designation preferred
3+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Advanced Excel and ERP system skills
Salary Range
$75,000- $100,000
