Job Description
This position will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations for Beaver Constructors, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and partnering with project teams to deliver reliable cost information. This role reports directly to the CFO and is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional with strong construction accounting experience.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily accounting operations including but not limited to A/P, A/R, payroll review, banking functions, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes along with preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
Maintain and reconcile job cost reports, WIP schedules, overhead allocation, and variance analysis
Review job cost accounting and partner with project managers to ensure accuracy of committed costs, change orders, and estimated cost-to-complete
Oversee A/P in managing transactions with subcontractors & suppliers, ensuring compliance with the Company’s internal controls while maintaining a positive relationship with vendors
Oversee A/R in managing AIA billings, progress billings, lien waivers, retention billings, and collections
Prepare and assist with tax filings and compliance including but not limited to state/local tax, certified payroll, and union reporting
May supervise A/P, A/R, or other accounting staff as the department grows
Assist Controller/Chief Financial Officer in preparation of various monthly schedules, projects, and other duties as required
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Help to strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and process documentation
Improve accounting workflows, automation, and reporting quality
Systems & Technology
Work in Sage 300CRE, Microsoft 365 Suite, Sage Fixed Assets, other programs as needed
Assist with system optimization, reporting tools, and system transitions if needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
Knowledge of GAAP and construction-specific accounting (WIP, percentage-of-completion, job costing)
Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Always maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
Excellent communication and ability to work closely with project teams
