The Role
As Assistant Buyer at TentBox, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Buying team to deliver product ranges that meet customer needs, achieve commercial targets, and land on time for seasonal launches.
You’ll be involved across the full buying lifecycle from market research and product selection to supplier coordination and purchase execution. This is a hands-on role where your work will directly contribute to TentBox’s growth and our mission to get more people outdoors.
What you’ll do
Product & Range Support
Conduct market and competitor research to identify trends, gaps, and new product opportunities
Support the development and planning of seasonal product ranges
Assist in creating clear, detailed product specifications
Supplier & Purchasing
Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
Track orders and proactively follow up with suppliers
Monitor supplier performance and support resolution of supply issues
Contribute to supplier and product-level performance reporting
Operations & Process
Maintain accurate product and supplier data across systems
Help improve procurement processes for efficiency and accuracy
Support product launches, campaigns, and seasonal go-to-market activity
Provide general support to the Buying team on ad-hoc tasks
What success looks like
Purchase orders are accurate, on time, and well managed end-to-end
Product data and supplier records are consistently clean and reliable
You proactively spot issues (supply, timelines, data) and help resolve them early
You contribute useful insights from research and data to support buying decisions
The Buying team can rely on you as an organised, detail-focused operator
What we’re looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2-3 years’ experience in retail buying, product sourcing, or supply chain (lifestyle/consumer brands preferred).
Some experience in overseas sourcing, ideally China, is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Organised, proactive, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities.
Passionate about outdoor products and lifestyle brands.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Tools & skills
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, reporting).
