Job Purpose:
Be the backbone of the field.
Our crews can only do their best work when they have the right tools, equipment, and support—on time, in working order, and ready to go. That’s where you come in.
Knobelsdorff Engineering is looking for an Assets & Facilities Technician to keep our shop and equipment yard running smoothly. This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes pride in organization, accountability, and supporting the teams who get the job done in the field. If you enjoy being active, keeping things dialed in, and knowing your work directly impacts project success, this role was built for you.
This position exists to ensure reliable, day‑to‑day execution in the shop and yard so crews can mobilize quickly and confidently. You’ll work side‑by‑side with the Assets Manager to stage, maintain, track, and return tools, trailers, and equipment while keeping the shop clean, organized, and ready for action.
This is an individual contributor role—no direct reports, but plenty of responsibility and impact.
What You’ll Do:
Daily Shop & Yard Support
• Respond to requests for tools, equipment, trailers, and job support items
• Pull, stage, and prep equipment for pickup, delivery, or job mobilization
• Load and unload trailers, trucks, and equipment safely and efficiently
• Support smooth mobilization and demobilization for field crews.
Tool, Equipment & Trailer Readiness
• Ensure all assets are clean, organized, functional, and ready to issue
• Inspect returns for damage, missing parts, and cleanliness
• Perform basic upkeep (cleaning, charging, fueling, organizing accessories)
• Communicate repair needs or repeat issues quickly and clearly
Inventory, Parts & Organization
• Keep parts, consumables, and shared tools stored correctly and easy to find
• Maintain organized shelves, racks, bins, and yard laydown areas
• Accurately put away returned items and maintain location discipline
• Support inventory counts and stock checks
Fleet & Shop Support
• Assist with day‑to‑day fleet and trailer readiness
• Flag maintenance needs for vehicles, tools, trailers, and equipment
• Help keep shop, loading, and common areas clean, safe, and operational
• Move and position equipment and materials as needed
Safety, Teamwork & Accountability
• Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and material handling practices
• Complete check‑in/check‑out processes accurately
• Balance urgency with care, organization, and accountability
• Partner closely with the Assets Manager and support field teams professionally
What success looks like (first 3–6 months)
• Tool and equipment requests are filled faster and more accurately
• The shop and yard are cleaner, more organized, and easier to operate
• Assets return to service faster and in better condition
• Inventory locations are accurate and easy to maintain
• Crews experience fewer delays due to missing or unprepared equipment
• The Assets Manager can focus on program improvement—not tracking items down
Metrics you’ll influence
• Request fill accuracy and turnaround time
• Tool, equipment, and trailer readiness
• Return‑to‑stock turnaround
• Shop organization and location accuracy
• Missing or damaged item reporting
• Preventive maintenance follow‑through
You’re someone who shows up ready to work hard, learn fast, and contribute to a team that takes pride in doing things right. Successful candidates typically bring:
• 2+ years in a shop, warehouse, yard, fleet, equipment, or construction support environment
• Experience safely loading/unloading trailers, tools, or equipment

• Ability to perform physical work (lifting, loading, moving materials)
• Comfort working in shop, warehouse, yard, and occasional jobsite settings
• Valid driver’s license
• Clear communication and teamwork mindset
• Basic experience with checklists or simple tracking processes
