The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We are looking for a highly organised, and adaptable Assessment Equity Adviser to join our Assessment Services team on a fixed-term basis until December 2027.

In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring equitable assessment outcomes for students. Your primary focus will be supporting students with disabilities who sit assessments under special conditions, and coordinating applications from students experiencing exceptional circumstances that affect their studies (aegrotat, compassionate consideration and late deletions).

You will work alongside a small team of Assessment Equity Advisers and the wider Assessment Services team, taking a holistic, case-management approach to deliver a seamless experience for students. The role also provides scope to support broader assessment operations, including contributing to examination coordination and conduct processes during peak periods.

This role is well suited to someone who can combine empathy and sound judgement, offering supportive guidance to students while ensuring fair and consistent decisions. Success in the role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to remain composed and effective under pressure.

Key elements of this role are to:

• Provide support and advice to students
• Process and coordinate special considerations during exams for students with disabilities or facing exceptional circumstances
• Liaise and work collaboratively with staff across the University
• Help manage a small team of casual staff and exam supervisors during exam periods

This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role; however, during the University’s two main exam periods, there is an expectation that you will work up to six days per week to include any Saturday exams that may be scheduled (with overtime paid for extra hours). This typically equates to around six Saturdays per year.

This is a fixed-term role until December 2027, full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Remuneration: $63,600 – $72,400 per annum, starting salary based on experience
