Summary:
The Asphalt Plant Operator will support our asphalt production facility and a team. The Asphalt Plant Operator will analyze each step of the manufacturing process and make effective use of resources to deliver desired outcomes. The Asphalt Plant Operator will promote and follow safety and compliance guidelines diligently in order to create a healthy work environment for all employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
• Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
• Analyzes production costs and inventory to ascertain and address areas for improvements.
• Maintains daily paperwork and clerical functions.
• Oversee plant inventory, including, monthly reporting.
• Assists in developing operation-related plans and policies and procedures.
• Provides superior customer service to internal and external customers by addressing issues, questions or concerns in a timely and effective manner.
• Responds to and maintains positive employer-employee relationships that contribute to enhanced productivity, motivation and morale.
• Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals which arise out of or affect the workplace.
• Supports processes that result in greater operational effectiveness.
• Works with Management on contributing to departmental cost control.
• Communicates and enforces safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with Company standards.
• Supports daily plant and equipment inspections.
• Coordinates and supports plant maintenance, repair and routine servicing.
• Coordinates the orders of liquid asphalt, tack, aggregates and other materials or parts.
• Works closely with the appropriate personnel with respect to quality and production.
• Coordinates trucking operations at the plants to ensure efficient load out for the crew.
• Logs materials in and out of inventory as materials are delivered and are used in production,
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
• Must possess 1 year of experience in asphalt plant operations.
• Must be adept at handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge and understanding related to company products, processes and equipment.
• Must possess a thorough understanding of and enforce all safety rules and regulations as they pertain to general industry at the plant sites.
• Must possess strong communication, organizational and administrative skills.
• Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, alcohol and background check, and
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
• Work at various heights above ground for extended periods of time, and can be hazardous due to falls, and/or working on or near energized electric lines and equipment,
• This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs.,
• Prolong periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling,
• Constant use of hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job, this includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces,
• Must be able to work with sharp tools or power equipment,
• This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts),
• Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time,
• Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
*Note: This position is considered Safety-Sensitive, and therefore subject to various schedule and unscheduled screenings for controlled substances.
