Asphalt Plant Electrician
Position Overview:
The asphalt plant electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing all electrical systems within the asphalt plant, including wiring, control panels, motors, and other equipment, ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting electrical issues, and making necessary upgrades when required; working in accordance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Installing new electrical wiring, equipment, and control systems, be familiar with frequency drive and control wiring, as well as performing routine maintenance on existing electrical components like motors, transformers, and circuit breakers.
· Diagnosing and fixing electrical faults, malfunctions, and breakdowns on plant machinery.
· Identify and source electrical parts and components as needed.
· Implementing upgrades or modifications to electrical systems to improve efficiency or comply with new regulations.
· Adhering to all electrical safety codes and procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols, to ensure a safe working environment.
Work closely with plant operators, production staff, and management to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
· Identify and source electrical parts and components as needed.
Requirements:
· Over 18 years of age.
· Eligible to work in the United States.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
· Complete and pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical.
· Minimum of three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; electrical certification preferred.
· Solid understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and blueprints.
Physical Aspects:
Employee will sit, walk and climb.
Occasionally required to sit while in company vehicle or office.
Must be able to walk comfortably up to a mile daily.
Frequently will be required to push/pull and climb ladders no greater than 20ft. at a time.
Requires balance and equilibrium when climbing ladders; walking catwalks or staircases in elevated areas up to 60ft. in evaluation.
Requires use of feet for repetitive movements such as driving, walking, climbing stairway and ladders.
Frequently will be required to travel catwalks no less than 10 degrees inclined and no greater than 20 degrees inclined at varying distances less than 200ft. occasionally, up to 800ft. frequently and 2,500ft. occasionally.
Frequently will be required to climb staircases up to 60ft. in elevation.
Frequently required to reach above shoulders to climb ladders and occasionally standing.
Light to medium level work; exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 lbs. of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Regularly requires use of both hands for grasping and fine manipulations for repetitive motions.
