Position Overview
CBO Earthworks is seeking experienced and reliable individuals to join our paving crew for the upcoming construction season. We are hiring for:
Screed Operator
Skid Steer (Bobcat) Operator
This role is suited for individuals with asphalt experience who are comfortable working in a hands-on, labor-intensive environment. Our work primarily consists of driveways, parking lots, and patching, requiring attention to detail, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
Successful candidates will be expected to operate equipment as well as support the crew with manual labor as required to keep paving operations running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Screed Operator
Operate asphalt paver screed to achieve proper grade, slope, and finish
Adjust screed controls to maintain consistent mat quality
Work closely with the paving crew to ensure smooth, efficient operations
Assist with raking, shoveling, and general labor as required
Monitor material flow and communicate with paver operator and crew
Skid Steer (Bobcat) Operator
Operate skid steer for asphalt placement, prep, and cleanup
Support paving operations including material handling and site preparation
Assist with raking, shoveling, and labor tasks when required
Maintain safe operation around crew members and active work zones
General Responsibilities (Both Roles)
Follow all company safety procedures and site-specific requirements
Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of equipment
Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members
Adapt to changing site conditions and daily operational needs
Qualifications & Experience
Screed Operator
Experience operating a screed on asphalt paving projects
Strong understanding of grade, slope, and finish requirements
Ability to rake and work alongside crew when required
Skid Steer Operator
2–3 years experience operating skid steer equipment
Experience working around asphalt paving operations preferred
Both Roles
Experience in asphalt paving or construction environments
Strong work ethic and reliability
Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor conditions
Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills
Safety certifications (CSTS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance) considered assets
Work Conditions
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Labor-intensive environment
10–12 hour shifts during peak paving season
Overtime and weekend work as required
