Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is a public charter school offering rigorous academics through language immersion in Mandarin Chinese, German, and Spanish. Position Overview
The Art Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality visual arts instruction to elementary students. This role focuses on skill development, creative expression, and exposure to a variety of media and techniques in a structured, supportive classroom environment. The Art Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers and administration to support student growth and contribute positively to the school community.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate visual arts instruction for elementary students
Teach foundational art skills, techniques, and creative processes
Create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging art classroom
Assess student learning and provide meaningful feedback
Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation
Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff
Support school-wide activities, events, and duties as assigned
Communicate professionally with students, families, and colleagues
Participate in meetings, professional development, and school events
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Art, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Education, or a related field
Experience working with elementary-aged students
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to foster creativity while maintaining clear expectations
Preferred:
Colorado teaching license or visual arts endorsement
Experience teaching art in an elementary school setting
Experience working with diverse student populations
