Who We Need

As an Applied AI Engineer on Rillet's AI & ML Team, you will design and ship production AI systems that transform how finance and accounting teams operate. This team sits at the intersection of LLMs, ERP workflows, and financial data, building the intelligence layer that makes Rillet fundamentally different from legacy ERP. You will own high-impact features end-to-end, from model integration to infrastructure, and your work will be used daily by finance teams at companies like Neuralink, Kickstarter, and Windsurf.

We're looking for teammates who value in-person collaboration and are within commutable distance of our NYC or San Francisco offices (or willing to relocate). Team members are required to work in-office Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus one additional flexible in-office day. Certain roles may require additional in-office time based on function.

What You'll Do

• Build and ship production AI features across Rillet's ERP platform, including AI agents, structured data extraction, and intelligent automation for accounting workflows

• Design and maintain the infrastructure powering LLM inference, fine-tuning pipelines, and RAG systems at scale

• Partner with product and engineering teams to translate complex finance and accounting workflows into AI-driven solutions

• Develop internal tooling and evaluation frameworks that improve the speed, accuracy, and reliability of Rillet's AI systems

• Drive continuous improvement of model performance through prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and systematic experimentation

Who We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in a technical role with a strong foundation in backend systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure

• 2-3+ years shipping production AI systems, not research or prototypes, with real users and real stakes

• Hands-on experience with production LLM applications, such as RAG pipelines, agentic systems, or structured extraction

• Proficiency in Python and comfort working across the full stack to deliver end-to-end features

• Strong product instincts and a habit of thinking about user impact, not just technical correctness
