Position: Applied AI Engineer (f/m/d)

Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid – 2 days per week)

Start date: Q1 2026

Role overview

The position focuses on building and scaling automated translation capabilities, fine-tuning language models, and developing engineering pipelines that can be applied across multiple markets. It requires a strong software engineering background with an emphasis on Python, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and applied machine learning. The role will also support early recommender-system features for the core market, later scaling these to further regions and customising content to various culture backgrounds.

How you will spend your time::
• Implement and optimise automated translation workflows integrated with the CMS

• Fine-tune existing ML models for market-specific performance

• Build engineering pipelines that are reliable, reusable, and easily scalable

• Contribute to recommendation-system capabilities that will later roll out globally

• Ensure infrastructure is robust, maintainable, and aligned with Terraform-based deployment.

• Participate in sprint planning and collaborate closely with Data, AI, and CMS stakeholders

What you should bring to the table::
• Strong Python engineering skills

• Experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines

• Understanding of machine-learning concepts and experience fine-tuning models

• Ability to design and maintain scalable pipelines and generalisable engineering solutions

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience

• Fluency in English; German is an advantage
