Job Description
Your tasks:
As an Application Engineer – Powertrain Systems, you help shape vehicle performance and functional behavior from concept to road. You take ownership of defining, validating, and ensuring compliance with system requirements by translating vehicle-level targets, regulations, and standards into robust real-world solutions.
Working at the intersection of powertrain systems, autonomous driving, software, and hardware, you ensure seamless integration into the vehicle architecture. From hands-on system validation and CAN-based analysis to supplier collaboration and issue resolution, you play a key role in bringing safe, reliable, and high-performing automated vehicles to life.
Your Tasks• Derive, define, and maintain performance and functional system requirements based on vehicle-level targets, characteristics, and applicable regulations, standards, and industry guidelines (e.g., UNECE, FMVSS, ISO)
• Act as a technical interface between vehicle attribute teams, Autonomous Driving, Software Engineering, Systems Architecture, Homologation, and other cross-functional stakeholders
• Lead system-level issue investigations using structured root-cause analysis based on log and measurement data, working closely with suppliers on resolution and corrective action validation
• Verify and analyze system performance on test benches and in-vehicle using CAN-based measurement, calibration, and diagnostic tools, documenting results and assessing requirement fulfillment under automated control
• Perform software-based system calibration and parameterization in close collaboration with suppliers to achieve the required functional and performance behavior
• Support vehicle integration teams during prototype builds, testing, and validation phases
• Contribute hands-on technical input to design reviews, FMEAs, safety cases, and release decisions
Your profile:
• Several years of professional experience in HV battery or Electric Drive Unit (EDU) system calibration, testing, or comparable hands-on system or vehicle engineering roles
• Strong practical understanding of powertrain and vehicle systems, including software–hardware interaction
• Solid hands-on experience with calibration, measurement, and test tools such as ETAS INCA and Vector tools (CANape, CANoe, CANalyzer, etc.)
• Experience working with requirements management tools and following the Engineering V-Model / V-Process
• Strong analytical mindset with proven ability to perform structured root-cause analysis based on log and measurement data
• Comfortable working hands-on during vehicle testing, calibration, and validation activities
• Willingness to travel regularly to test tracks in Germany to support development and validation activities
